How To Keep Dust From Destroying Your Computer

Remember the days when a computer room used to be the sanctum of pure air and a dust-free zone? All carpeted and air-conditioned? Today you have your computer in your den and your laptop lying on the floor. Does that mean that your computer is susceptible to malfunctioning? Yes, it is! Although computers today are better-built, saves power and generates less heat, still no computer is immune to dust and dirt. It is thus of paramount importance that you keep your computer clean in order to ensure that it functions properly.

What will dust cause?

Dust will affect the most important part of your computer; the fan that keeps your central processing unit CPU cool. Dust lodges itself on the fan blades and clogs it resulting into excessive heat generation. The fan then fails to cool the CPU which may eventually completely stop the working of the computer. A partially functioning fan due to dust clogging will make your computer work harder with less output but a definitely higher electricity bill. So yes, you would want to stay off the dust!

So what are the precautions?

You can follow these steps in order to clean dust from the fan of your computer. Keep the computer in a dust-free environment. Avoid smoking in front of your computer. Nicotine and tar residue harm the computer. Try dusting it very regularly and use a CPU cover if need be. Also it is a good idea to keep your computer in a cold environment. Even if air-conditioning is not possible, try keeping it away from the sun, or near open windows. That being said, do not keep your computer in a closed area either. This may heat up the CPU and make it work harder.

A casual dusting of the keyboard, the monitor or cleaning up the mouse will also help in the long run. Remember dust accumulates in the mouse ball and makes the mouse interactivities quite difficult.

However even after you have taken all the precautions, dust will still accumulate on the fan. There is no alternative to regular cleaning.

So how do you clean the fan?

Open up the back of your CPU. Use a can of compressed air and an anti-static cloth to clean the dust. Hold the can vertically and spray air such that dust is not sprayed on other parts of the CPU and the circuits. Now use the anti-static cloth to clean off the dust.

Do not attempt to use a vacuum cleaner as that might cause static electricity and may also draw in any loose wiring. Adopt a liquid free dusting method and do not use any oil-based cleansing agent.

If you are not comfortable with cleaning it yourself then drop it at a service center. It generally does not cost a fortune. To keep your computer running in a good condition and to give it a longer life, keep dust off your computer. Do not ignore the maintenance of your computer, even in the busy life find out time to clean your computer.

How to Easily Install Your New Computer Graphics Card

Installing a new video card isn't that hard at all I installed my new video card and I never knew anything about computer before I started playing games. Most people do not like installing their new video card and leave it up to a repair man or shop to install it, at the same time that I was installing my new video card I was also installing a new power supply and heat sink because the power supply that I had was only giving me 300 watts and the video card needed at least 350 watts to run. After that I just put the heat sink on too and that is the main thing that transfers heat from your computer and disperses it so I had to be very careful. That's just what I did and I didn't know anything about computers before I did all my own upgrades computers is simple really after you do some of the work yourself.

With someone knowing how to install a new video card it will only take about a whole 5 seconds to install the card itself but then you have to install the software that goes along with it which takes about 5 minutes. So the whole process is very quick and easy. You do not really need any tools other then a simple flathead or screw driver to unscrew the bolts from the video card as it will be attached the case of the computer.

All you do is turn off the computer, then open up your side of the case of the computer that opens, then you will see a set of chips there should be either 4 or 5 of them and your video/ graphics card will be the very first one on top. You will just want to unscrew the bolt from the side if there is one and slowly and gently pull it out of your interface. After that set the old one down and put the new video card in the same slot you pulled the old one out of. After that all you do is plug in the power supply if the video card takes one and then turn on the computer and start uploading the software for the video card. After all that is finished you should be ready to go to do anything you need to do or play with your new video card.

The whole installation is very easy and quick and doesn't take any time at all so do not go out and pay someone to do it for you. I thought about doing that but I wouldn't know everything I know today if I never would have done it myself so just do it yourself and you will be better off. It is the most simple thing that you can do its like putting in a DVD you just slide the video card into the slot and your done.

How To Protect Your Personal Information From Identity Thieves Online

We all know criminals are out there, waiting to steal our information. All they want to do is run up the bill then leave you with the debt. Most of these thieves are very far away. The most common way for someone to steal your information is through a fake email and they usually say that there has been a problem with your account and needs attention and attention meaning your information.

Identifying these fake emails isn't hard, most of the time the person doesn't even have a credit card from which the company the thief is sending from. Then you can also right click on the link that they send you and even see if the website they sent is even real.

These criminals don't want you to see their website source they want you to click on the link so it will take you right to the site. Most of these sites are identical to the real credit card companies many use, therefore causing for many to steal your information as you type all your information in to the fake website.

Those of you who have become victims of this scam probably realized too late and by then the thieves would have already went on a shopping spree with your credit card, running up the bill within minutes or even seconds. Once you have entered all your info in the fake website you have already done exactly what they wanted you to do and no longer need you.

If you received an email that is a fake you should delete it ASAP. Even just clicking on the link to investigate could cause your computer to become infected with viruses or spyware, causing for them to steal your info anyways.

If you do your part and protect all your info you have nothing to worry about. As you know your personal info is very important you would never want it to fall into the wrong set of hands. As long as you keep it protected you will have nothing at all to worry about. There are always people out there on the internet waiting for you to mess up and steal your info so you should always be on the look out. All they want is your credit card info and your personal info so do everything you can to protect it and give it to no person.

A criminal will do anything they can to get what they need that is why it is so very important to keep it hidden. If you keep it protected then you will have nothing to worry about and these thieves that are out there doing this wont be able to complete their scam. Some of these thieves will even actually try and get you to send them money. They might even try to get you involved in the scam by writing you emails to help them out but you really don't know it's them messing with you.
